I am sure many of you out there have the same problem. I am very familiar with the Ping-Pong match that goes on in my head when presented with a choice. I'm normally more decisive, but when it comes to food it can take up to 30 minutes for me to weigh the pros and cons of the choices I'm faced with. I wish I could set up a recording device to analyse my thought processes. I have to say, it would probably be a good giggle for any outsider looking in. For me it's less a comedy act and more of a saga. Ultimately the decision is based on the pros that seem best AT THAT MOMENT!
Anyone would say it's logical to choose the long term benefits over the short term ones. But we all know that's not the reality. Who wants to be logical when you can be emotional, driven by the senses instead of thought processes. I was faced with this dilemma today. BBQ Hog Dog vs. Chicken Caesar Salad. I am happy to say that I made the right decision! Admittedly, initially my thoughts went along the line of …"I'm meeting my nutritionist tomorrow, I'll have one final 'junk' meal before then" Sound familiar? Thankfully, sense won the argument, and I opted for the healthy option.
Whoop! I am determined to celebrate each and every small victory and this definitely counts as one. Even if it had mayo, it was still sooooo much healthier than the alternative would've been. The deciding factor was *drum roll* - I didn't want to waste the work I'd done at the gym! Something else to celebrate as well. One day, much further down the road I will add all the victories together and roll them into a big one!
Here's to all the victories to come…
