Well here goes. My first diary update… This is just me, no frills attached!
So… what's my biggest achievement today? I'd say getting to the gym is always the biggest hurdle. I'm sure there are many of you who would agree. For me, as someone who works from home, it takes a lot to get me outside. Especially when it's starting to get cold. I wish you could hear the debate that goes on while trying to decide wether it's worth venturing out or not. Of course, that's the view of the soon-to-be-extinct other me. Today wasn't as hard as I thought… It was a pleasant walk, even with a detour, which I would normally shirk from. I joined up with Michelle, my friend and gym buddy. These things are always easier when you're not doing it alone. I was actually looking forward to being in the gym, especially on the rowing machine, somehow that's become my favourite. Interesting though how your mind glosses over the bad bits. I had forgotten how quickly your legs tire! A sign of things to come… I took it relatively easy today because I haven't got my workout programme yet, and I'd prefer to be supervised in the beginning stages, because I am very wary of my rickety joints and the last thing I want is to overdo it on the first day. I did some cycling, walking and rowing… Just enough to get the heart pumping and the limbs burning. And finally Michelle demonstrated the Power Plates to me. Had such a giggle… I'm sure they are fantastic at what they do, but the initial encounter was just plain hilarious! This past week I've walked more than I have in quite a long time. So am really chuffed.
Now the important thing is to keep the momentum going! I plan to go to the gym daily, alternating between gym and strength training and swimming to ease the muscles and joints while still keeping active. I'm sure Jemma has plans for me though, lol! She mentioned me being on my way to triathlon training.. er… alrighty then
Big plans generate bigger results - aiming high, I like it!
